Puerto Plata.- In what will be a year of many inaugurations of important works throughout the national territory, President Luis Abinader began 2023 with eight in Puerto Plata and one in Santiago.

During his tour of the Novia del Atlántico, Puerto Plata province, the works delivered by the president are around 730.5 million pesos.

Among these works, the ones with the highest investment correspond to the reconstruction of the highway that connects the municipality of Villa Isabela with the Isabela Histórica municipal district and the Bajabonico and Unijica bridges, as well as the paving of the streets, construction and repair of sidewalks and containers for about 560 million pesos.

The highway was rebuilt with an investment of 210 million pesos, while the Unijica and Bajabonico bridges had an investment of 230 million pesos, directly impacting the municipality of Villa Isabela, where some 20,000 inhabitants live and thousands of visitors come. locals and tourists every year.

The construction and reconstruction of sidewalks, speed bumps, scuppers and curbs was also announced for 120 million pesos, of which 20 million will be allocated to Villa Isabela.

Similarly, President Abinader inaugurated the renovation and expansion of the Emergency area of ​​the Imbert public hospital, with an investment of more than 73.5 million pesos and which will benefit more than 22,000 inhabitants.

Likewise, it inaugurated the fishing and sailboat docks of Bahía Luperón, with an investment of 11 million pesos, as an initiative that will renew and promote the fishing activity in the area and boost the local economy.

Regarding technological training, the head of state inaugurated a Community Technological Center (CTC) in Imbert, where the “Oportunidad 14-24” program will also operate, and a new INFOTEP Technological Training Center, the latter built with a amount of more than 46 million pesos.

He also led the inauguration of the Professor Enrique Aquiles Polanco play in the same town, with an approximate investment of 20 million pesos, which includes the repair of peripheral streets.

Meanwhile, in the municipality of Luperón, the first day of social inclusion “First You” of this 2023 took place, where more than 2,000 people in conditions of vulnerability and extreme poverty were benefited in an effort by the central government to bring dignity and better opportunities to those most in need.

The day also included the visit of President Luis Abinader to the renovation works of the La Isabela Histórica Archaeological Park, which includes its 17 buildings, and inaugurated the Santa Isabela parish, for which the government has made an approximate contribution of 20 million pesos.

At various points in his journey, the president took the floor, highlighting, in the educational field, that with the inauguration of the technical training centers, “specialized careers will be taught so that young people can find work quickly” and take advantage of the opportunities that are being created in the sectors of tourism, free zones, real estate tourism and other industries.

Meanwhile, by leaving the Imbert Municipal Hospital Emergency in operation, he pointed out the increase made to the health sector of 1.5% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to meet the priorities of the Dominican nation.

Joaquin Balaguer Highway

During Sunday in Santiago, the head of state led the inauguration of the remodeled Joaquín Balaguer highway that links the Santiago-Navarrete section, as well as bridges and the construction of sidewalks, curbs and asphalt with an investment of more than 978 million pesos .

Present were Claritza Rochtte, Governor of Puerto Plata; Senator Ginette Bournigal; the Administrative Minister of the Presidency, José Ignacio Paliza; that of Public Works, Deligne Ascension; the administrative and financial vice minister of the Presidency, Igor Rodríguez; the director of the SNS, Mario Lama; that of the Social Policy Cabinet, Tony Peña; that of the Presidential Commission to Support Neighborhood Development, Ángel de la Cruz; from the “Oportunidad 14-24” program, Alex Mordán, and from the CTC, Isidro Torres, among others.
