Inumet warns for storms "punctually strong" from this tuesday

Likewise, for tomorrow, Wednesday the 11th, there will be “a new decline” that will arrive along the west coast with “occasionally strong storms.” This phenomenon “will gradually spread to the rest of the country,” the agency warned.

“The accumulated precipitation would not be significant, but it can register hail fall, intense electrical activity and strong gusts of wind,” the Inumet statement details.

Starting today afternoon, punctually strong storms are expected in the E and NE.

The rains come after several days of water deficit and drought in the national territory that led to dozens of fires in different pointsas well as to an OSE notice for three departments where the population was asked to maximize the uses of water.

This notice from Inumet coincides with what the meteorologist José Serra had predicted in conversation with The Observer. He had indicated that between January 10 and 12 he would enter the country “some cold front passage” that would cause rains and storms in all the country. “Is very likely what happens”, added back then.

The last important rain, mainly in Montevideo, occurred on Sunday, January 1when a squall affected the neighborhoods of Peñarol, Sayago and Prado.
