The groupings BYU Vocal Pointfrom the United States, and the Camerata Vocale Sine Nominefrom Cuba, will offer a concert this Tuesday as part of a program organized by the National Center for Concert Music.
According to report of Latin Press (PL), the show at the Teatro América, scheduled for 7:30 p.m., seeks to bring this kind of sounds to the public on the Island, therefore admission is free.
BYU Vocal Point, a nine-vocalist male group, is based at Brigham Young University and is distinguished by its shows a cappella.
It was founded in 1991 by students Bob Ahlander and Dave Boyce, according to the source. Its current director is Emmy Award-winning McKay Crockett.
According to available data, the group has won three Perla Awards and was the winner of the 2006 International Collegiate A Cappella Championship (ICCA). In 2011, he placed fifth in the third season of The Sing Off of nbc.
The work of the Camerata Vocale Sine Nomine, for its part, is marked by the use of countertenor (soprano and alto), tenor and bass voices in the interpretation of music originally written for this type of format.
His repertoire covers pieces from the beginnings of polyphony to the present. It is directed by teacher Leonor Suárez Dulzaides and has won awards such as Cubadisco 2009 in the Choral Music category.
