A compliance action filed a group of citizens led by Carlos Tenicela against the Central Reserve Bank of Peru. They asked that the institution stop using the coat of arms on national circulation coins and that the motto “Firm and happy for the union” be restored, which was instituted in 1825 and withdrawn by the BCR in 1925.
Today in a conference presented by Tenicela accompanied by the former candidate of the Purple Party, Omar Ordoñez; the dean of the College of Journalists, Carlos Prieto; the writers Gerardo García Rosales and Sergio Castillo and the television host Kety Bernedo exposed this problem, pointing out that the BCR fails to comply with Decree Law No. 11323 that prohibits the use of the coat of arms; however, they continue to use it.

In the afternoon, the Civil Chamber of the Superior Court of Justice of Junín declared the lawsuit of this group unfounded despite the fact that in the appeal they had presented a report from the Ministry of Defense. “We only have to go to the Constitutional Court for a review process, but it is a sentence against national identity,” said Tenicela.
