National Agreement: SNI proposes an agreement for economic reactivation and governance

The National Society of Industries (SNI) proposed a pact for governance, the and social development within the framework of the meeting of the which was convened by the President of the Republic Dina Boluarte.

The objective of the initiative, according to the union, is “to establish the bases of a road map that provides our country with political, economic and social stability in the current period of transition.”

The NIS President, explained that the union proposes this pact because the dialogue by itself is not enough.

He also pointed out that the social gaps generated by centralism, as well as the little attention paid to MSMEs and family farming, demand that all political and social forces jointly build consensus for the development of all of Peru.

“Constitutional succession and the formation of a new cabinetAlthough they gave us stability, they are not enough to ensure the governability that Peruvians demand today, such as the need for an expected reactivation and social development for the country, especially in the regions,” he said.

The union leader pointed out that to carry out this pact, four macro-regional tables should be established that manage to build the necessary consensus on the three strategic guidelines mentioned.

“Based on the consensus reached at these tables, a High Level Group should subsequently be in charge of formulating the Roadmap following the same methodology of the National Agreement working groups,” mentioned Salazar Nishi.

“We must work together to gather the needs of the regions, and aim at policies that allow them to grow and obtain social development,” he stressed.

Pact with three axes

According to the SNI, the referred pact has a focus on three axes:

1. Pact for governanceto ensure the transition process and the calling of elections, considering the necessary political reforms, with a view to achieving a better Government and Congress by 2024.

2. Pact for economic reactivation, which allows laying the foundations for growth in production and the creation of decent employment, allows the generation of public and private investment aimed at infrastructure and in productive sectors; and create the conditions for territorial development in our regions, with an emphasis on micro and small businesses, and family farming.

3. Pact for social development, Oriented to reducing social gaps and especially to ensuring people’s health, education and safety, as well as solving extreme hunger and high rates of anemia.
