Prosecutor's Office carries out preliminary inquiries against Dina Boluarte and Alberto Otárola for deaths in protests

The Office of the Prosecutor of the Nation arranged to carry out preliminary proceedings regarding the complaints presented against the President of the Republic, ; , in his capacity as Defense Minister, a position he held until before assuming the presidency of the Council of Ministers; César Cervantes, former Minister of the Interior, and others.

Through its Twitter account, the Public Ministry specified that the complaints “are intended to investigate the deaths that occurred during the demonstrations held in December 2022.”

For her part, President Dina Boluarte welcomed the start of these proceedings and assured that she would give “all the appropriate facilities for the prompt clarification of the facts.”

On this same subject, Prime Minister Alberto Otárola also spoke, who maintained that this fiscal procedure began from a complaint filed in the Ayacucho region.

However, he added that the same government requested an investigation into the 28 deaths registered during the protests that arose after the coup d’état by Pedro Castillo, six of which, it is recalled, were as a consequence of the blockades and excesses on different roads in the country. .
