The crash
At least one person was killed and 57 injured when two trains collided at a busy Mexico City Metro station.
The accident occurred during the morning, reported the head of government of Mexico City, Claudia Sheinbaum.
Four people who were trapped inside one of the Line 3 Metro cars, involved in the accident, have already been rescued and are well.
A strong mobilization of police officers was registered today protecting the scene of the accident while paramedics helped people to leave the area and ambulances arrived to transfer the injured to hospitals.
In recent years, the Mexico City Metro System has had various accidents, the most serious occurred in May 2021, leaving 26 dead and more than 60 injured.
On that occasion, a report concluded that the deadly accident occurred due to poor maintenance, causing a railway overpass to collapse.
