Concern about the balance of power. Recently, the Avanza País congresswoman, Rosselli Amuruzpresented a bill which proposes the constitutional reform that cuts, for the only time, the mandate of the president of the National Election Jury (JNE) and the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), a situation that has caused an alert.
Faced with this situation, the Coalición Ciudadana collective urges the members of Parliament not to increase tension in the face of the political crisis that the country is going through, since this reform, far from offering solutions, “would further damage our precarious democracy because they affect the balance of powers and autonomy of the electoral bodies”.

“When that happens, the balance of power in the country is put at risk, favoring various forms of political arbitrariness. In addition, it affects the efforts of Congress itself aimed at political and electoral reform, ”they say in a statement.
The collective highlights that this is not a solution to Peru’s political and social instability, but rather increases mistrust in public institutions as well as the integrity of early general elections.
“What is at stake are the changes that citizens demand and the stability necessary to resume the path of development,” they conclude.
