The economy of the Dominican Republic was revitalized this weekend with the purchase of toys by the Holy Kings daywhich is traditionally on January 6 in many countries of Latin America.
During a tour of various stores in the capital could see the great flow of people, unlike previous years, after trade remained paralyzed due to the confinement brought by the coronavirus.
From early hours, and throughout the first week of this 2023, women, men, young people, adolescents, boys and girls go to the main toy stores to please the offspring for the Kings’ Daywhich was passed to next Monday the 9th of this month by the Government.

According to some of the buyers who visited several stores, prices this year are “very high”.
«I who visited some stores in Villa Consuelo I can tell you that the prices are very high. Parents have a hard time”said Juan Isidro Tapia.
However, others understand that the prices of toys, despite the economic situation in the country and the world, remain affordable.
«I see the prices well. In the end they are our children and we have to please them, “said Francisca Martínez.
Origin of Three Kings Day
The Three Kings Day It is a celebration included in the calendar of the Catholic Church based on the story told in the Gospel of Saint Matthewof the New Testament, when Jesus, newborn, was visited by wizards from the East in Bethlehem of Judea. And Mary and Joseph went with Jesus to Egypt. Then, unable to find the child, King Herod’s fury was immense, and he ordered the slaughter of all children under the age of 2 in Bethlehem of Judea. This is what has also given rise to theDay of the Innocents (referring to the innocent children killed), which is celebrated on December 28.
