With great pitching work by Jhon Anderson and the timely hitting by Rodrigo Orozco, the Federales de Chiriquí got even closer to their goal of qualifying directly for the Probeis Grand Final by beating the Águilas Metropolitanas 5 runs to 1.
Anderson had a great start by working seven full innings allowing five unstoppables and a single run, striking out five and giving up a walk to credit the victory for the Chiricanos, for the Águilas the defeat went to Didier Vargas who in 3.2 innings pitched allowed four hits, two runs, struck out six and walked two.
The Federales continue their 15th victory of the season with only 4 losses and losing Atlánticos against the Astronauts, or that the Federales win this Saturday against the Águilas would be ensuring first place in the standings and a direct pass to the Grand Final of Probeis.
Rodrigo Orozco went 2-for-4 with one run scored and two RBIs; Iván Herrera went 3-1 with a double and an RBI, while Erick Castillo went 3-1 with an RBI. For the Eagles Gerald Chin 2-1 with an RBI; Jonathan Rivera 3-2; Carlos Mosquera and Ozziel Sánchez batted 3-1.
This Saturday, January 7, the Federals will face the Eagles starting at one in the afternoon at Rod Carew Stadium.
