Two people died and at least five were injured in Nicaragua, when a truck fell from a bridge on a rural road in the southeast of the country, local authorities reported Wednesday.
The event was recorded on Tuesday night in the municipality of Nueva Guinea, which belongs to the Southern Caribbean Autonomous Region (RACS), on a bridge located 248 kilometers east of Managua, according to the information.
The preliminary report indicated that the truck, loaded with people and furniture, after crossing the bridge between the La Esperanza and La Sardina communities, did not have the strength to overcome a hill, with which it reversed until it fell into the abyss.

The fatalities were identified as Yelber Omar Ramírez Jaime, 26, and Deysi Martínez Baquedano, 33, whose relationship was not disclosed.
Among the injured were three minors between the ages of 8 and 16, as well as adults Carlos Mariano Zelaya and Lesbia Téllez, whose relationship is unknown.
The driver of the truck, Adoniran Suarez, 40, fled the scene, according to the report.
Traffic accidents are among the main causes of death in Nicaragua, according to official data.
The Traffic Directorate of the National Police registered at least 962 deaths in traffic accidents in 2022.
