The losses in the sightseeing as a consequence of the social and political crisis amounted to US$2.5 billion in 2022, assured the vice president of the Association of Hotels, Restaurants and Related Products (Ahors Perú), Sergio Belloso.
During his presentation at the Foreign Trade and Tourism Commission of Congress, he stated that flight cancellations and roadblocks hit the sector hard.

In this sense, he indicated that in 2019 US$4.700 million entered from international tourism, and by the end of 2022 there would have been a 56% drop when compared to that amount.
Likewise, he specified that nearly two million foreign tourists arrived last year, which did not reach the 4.4 million registered before the pandemic.
“By 2023, the arrival of 3.5 million tourists is expected, but we must ensure peace in the territory and provide a message of security abroad,” he added.
