A newborn baby died in the Provincial Maternity of Córdoba and the local Ministry of Health began an investigation to determine “the final causes” of death.
The death of the minor occurred last Monday, five days after birth, on December 28, by emergency caesarean section with prematurity and low weight.
The Directorate of the Provincial Maternity Hospital requested that the judicial autopsy be carried out.
The death of the baby occurred last Monday It is not related to the known cases of 2022, although due to the magnitude that this situation reached, the Ministry of Health chose to make the news known quickly.
“The established medical hypotheses are those of septic shock or metabolic disease. The judicial morgue was involved so that through its intervention the final causes are determined ”, they indicated from the health portfolio.
The Cordoba Ministry of Health last year was involved in a controversy for the death of five babies at the Maternal Neonatal Hospital, which led to the arrest of a nurse, who is presumed to have injected potassium into the newborns, in addition to the displacement of several officials from their positions.

Within the framework of the file, the former director of the Ramón Carrillo Maternity Neonatal Hospital, Liliana Asís, is accused of “omission of the duties of a public official”, as well as two heads of the Neonatology area, Marta Gómez Flores and Adriana Morales.
In the meantime, another six people are accused and released for “omission of the duties of a public official”, such as the former Minister of Health Diego Cardozo; the former provincial Health Secretary, Pablo Carvajal; the former deputy director of the Alejandro Escudero Salama hospital.
The accusations they also reach the former director of that care center, Liliana Asís; to the former heads of neonatal areas, Marta Gómez Flores and Adriana Moralesfor the crimes of “omission of the duties of a public official and ideological falsehood”.
