Unicorn companies are those private companies that have a valuation of more than US$ 1,000 million without even going public. This number is very difficult to reach, but not impossible. In fact, In the last 10 years, Uruguay had two startups that became unicorns: OrdensYa (2019) —reached the price considering its transaction volumes and industry multiples—, and dLocal (2020) by obtaining a total valuation of US$1.2 billion after raising an investment round of US$200 million.
