Family visits were authorized between December 31, 2022 and January 1 of this year for political prisoners held in the complex of the Directorate of Judicial Assistance, known as “El Nuevo Chipote”, in Managua, classified as a torture center against trade union leaders; however, Miguel and Alejandra could not meet.
The Mendoza family reported in a statement that an official notified by telephone that the scheduled family visit at the end of the year to the political prisoners of “El Nuevo Chipote” had been canceled for Miguel Mendoza “following an order, due to the publications on social networks ».
“Unfortunately the heart of our family is beaten, particularly that of our dear Alejandra, who has once again been deprived of seeing and hugging her father on this very symbolic date at the beginning of the year, which as a family we usually receive as a family unit. », said the relatives of the sports journalist.
They explained that the publications made by the family through social networks are in accordance with the Law. For their part, the Government’s notification “was very concise and did not specify how much of the joy of the family and that of Alejandra when hugging their father, they didn’t like it.”
