The public universities of Argentina, grouped in the National Interuniversity Council Council (CIN), expressed their satisfaction with the agreement reached between the national government and the International Monetary Fund announced this Friday by President Alberto Fernández, which will allow the start of a multi-year program of cancellation of debts with that body.
Through a statement, the members of the CIN “have paid special attention to the commitments adopted that will allow investment in higher education and science and technology to be maintained, without affecting the budgets necessary for the development of these sectors.”
They also highlighted that “to the extent that growth paths and sustainable economic recovery are adopted in our country, the Universities play a leading role as engines of national and regional development with their academic, scientific, technological and extension functions.”
