Call for a march for peace still stands for this Tuesday, January 3

Although the National Police announced that it will not participate in the so-called convened for this January 3 at the national level, citizens in social networks clarified that the mobilization is still on.

The initiative seeks to be a response to the protests announced in the macro-south region as of January 4, which could replicate the wave of violence recorded last December, which left 28 deaths according to the official count of the Ombudsman’s Office.

In the march, the participation of various political groups, citizen movements and members of the Church is expected, according to the former member of GEIN, José Luis Gil, who will also be part of the mobilization in Lima.

The PNP desisted today from promoting the demonstration to “avoid misunderstandings” in the face of questions received that indicated a transgression of its institutional functions.

In Metropolitan Lima, the march for peace is called to begin in Campo de Marte, in the Jesus María district, and will go through the streets of the capital towards Plaza San Martín, in the Historic Center.
