Machado describes the opposition leadership as "defeated": "We have to displace them"

María Corina Machado takes advantage of the divisions of the opposition leadership regarding the end of interim government to affirm that this political class is “defeated”, to try to establish itself as the option for real change and to call on Venezuelans to demand a manual vote for the presidential primary

In a video published by the Vente Venezuela party, its founder María Corina Machado described as “defeated” the opposition that has not been able to oust Nicolás Maduro from power.

«These are the defeated playing their role as defeated calling the country to defeat. “The gruesome shows that are giving from side to side, even if they disgust us, cannot paralyze us, quite the opposite. We finally understood that the opposition leadership falls into the traps and temptations of tyranny, it becomes part of the system and part of the problem. It has become clear that to defeat the regime we first have to displace that opposition«.

In his message, Machado combined collective considerations with his own, using the majestic plural. «These struggles have been forging us for these moments. The illusions, the disappointments, the falls, the rises they have been preparing us like no previous generation to take over and complete the task.

In this sense, he added that “we have been preparing ourselves physically, because the fight has been hard, full of deprivation and torture, and this has galvanized our desire for justice. We have been preparing ourselves intellectually, because what we are facing is complex and we must know how to understand how the criminal system acts and anticipate (…) We have been preparing ourselves emotionally, because they have taken away so many things we love that today we value them more than ever (…) And we have been preparing ourselves spiritually, because this is a fight between good and evil.

The former deputy said that society is facing “the biggest challenge: the fight against freedom and oppression.” For this reason, María Corina Machado called on Venezuelans inside and outside the country to organize to fight against the regime and the “defeated”.

He added that in Venezuela there are two opposing visions: those who say “this is what it is” and those who want real change, where there is no need to resign oneself between a “red socialism or a yellow socialism”.

Machado, in the audiovisual where he recalled economic, social and political problems in the country while listing characteristics “of the country we want”, he said that in Venezuela and outside the country “nobody sucks their thumb. We have spent many years denouncing all the frauds of the regime, and therefore we know what we have to do.”

Listing the tasks, he maintained: “I am doing everything in my power so that you can choose that new leadership. But I need us to do it together. I ask you that if you are in Venezuela you get active already fighting the campaign of demoralization; Get organized and if you want to do it with us, contact me through my social networks; and raise your voice for the manual vote so that the Primary Commission hears you. If you are outside of Venezuela, I ask you to make yourself listen to the lies of the regime that Venezuela has fixed itself and we Venezuelans have thrown in the towel; get organized and contact all the Venezuelans you know and create networks of information, pressure and solidarity; and write to the Primary Commission and tell them that you want to vote.

In his 10-minute message, which you can see in the attached video, he stated that it is necessary for Venezuelans to exercise citizenship responsibly: “We cannot expect others to do our part.”
