The presidents of Brazil and Argentina, Luiz Inácio “Lula” Da Silva and Alberto Fernández will hold a bilateral meeting this Monday in the capital of the neighboring country.

It was reported this Sunday by the Argentine Foreign Minister, Santiago Cafiero, who at the same time confirmed Lula’s official visit to Argentina by the end of January.

“Tomorrow there will be a brief meeting between Lula and Alberto Fernández,” said Cafiero at the Argentine embassy in Brazil, reported the Foreign Ministry.

According to spokespersons, the meeting will take place at 10 a.m. at the Itamaraty Palace, headquarters of the Brazilian Foreign Ministry, in Brasilia,

Cafiero also maintained that “on January 24 we have the CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, of which Fernández is the pro tempore) summit and Lula wanted this to be his first international trip.”

“We are finishing coordinating the agenda, he would come on the 23rd and we would make a state visit to Argentina, and tomorrow there will be a brief meeting between Lula and Alberto Fernández,” added the foreign minister, who attended the inauguration in Brazil da Silva as president.

President Alberto Fernández led the Argentine delegation that gave the first formal greetings to the new Brazilian president, Luiz Inácio Lula da SIlva, in the Noble Hall of the Planalto Palace, the Government House of Brazil.

Fernández greeted Lula after the Portuguese president, Marcelo Rebelo de Souza, according to the organization of the Brazilian presidential ceremonial.

The President of Argentina was accompanied in the protocol greeting by Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero and the Ambassador in Brasilia, Daniel Scioli.

The Argentine delegation, in addition to Lula, greeted the First Lady, Rosángela Da Silva, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin and his wife, Lu Alckmin, before participating in the honorary dinner prepared by the Itamaraty Palace for foreign visitors.
