The dollar rose in the last session of the year and thus stood just above $40 in the interbank. The daily advance served to reduce a strong annual decline.
The US currency gained 1.13% this Friday and stood at $40,071 in the wholesale average, according to data from the Electronic Stock Market (Bevsa).
Meanwhile, the last operation of the day was agreed at $39.95 with a rise of 0.4% compared to Thursday.
This way, The value of the dollar in Uruguay fell 10.34% in 2022 compared to the end of 2021, which had been $44.7.
On Friday there were operations for a total of US$ 60 million and there was no intervention from the Central Bank (BCU) which remained outside the spot market.
For its part, on the board of the Bank (Brou) the dollar was offered at $38.7 for purchase and $41.2 for sale.
Outlook 2023
Analysts and institutions that participated in the latest BCU expectations survey project an exchange rate at $42 by the end of 2023, according to the median of responses. Meanwhile, the projected value for six months from now, that is, at the end of May, is $40.2.
