The Paraguayan Episcopal Conference issued a message to the Paraguayan people after the death of Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI.
“The Paraguayan Episcopal Conference joins the feeling of the Universal Church before the departure of the Pope emeritus, Benedict XVI, to the Heavenly Homeland; and, as Christians, we urge you to pray for his eternal rest in the glory promised to the faithful children of the Eternal Father,” the statement said.
They further point out that the pontificate of Benedict XVI received the imprint of an “unwavering faith, and profound human and theological teachings”, that enriched the Church to discern and expose the truth of God in the reason of the world.

“The Bishops of Paraguay invite you to keep the gaze of the heart and soul on the Paschal mystery of the Risen Christ, thanking the Lord for the great service and life testimony of this apostle of his”, they add.
“We implore the Lord let perpetual light shine for him, and that the Saints come out to meet them to enter the dwelling place of God”, they underline.

Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI died today at the age of 95 in the Mater Ecclesiae monastery in the Vatican, where he lived since his historic resignation from the pontificate in 2013.
Will be buried Thursday in a crypt of Saint Peter’s Basilica, indicated the press office of the Holy See.
