Osmani García and other Latino artists perform in Times Square for the end of the year

Osmani García

MIAMI, United States. – The Cuban reggaeton singer Osmani García will participate in the event organized every December 31 by the US Spanish-language television network Univision in the emblematic Times Square in New York, according to a statement quoted by EFE.

According to that source, the 41-year-old reggaeton singer born in Guanabacoa and a US citizen will be one of the participants in “Happy 2023.”

The list of participants also includes artists such as Daddy Yankee, Natti Natasha, Wisin y Yandel, Mau y Ricky, Camilo, Evaluna, Fuerza Regida, Jay Wheeler, Chiquis, Banda Los Recoditos and Grupo Firme & Sech.

In addition, Gloria Estefan, Manuel Turizo, Ozuna, Ángela Aguilar, Gabriel Soto and Sebastián Rulli will join the event.

For their part, the presenters of the evening will be Raúl De Molina, Alejandra Espinoza, Clarissa Molina and Borja Voces from New York. In addition, from Los Angeles they will be joined by Lili Estefan, Omar Chaparro and Karina Banda. There will also be interventions from Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Osmani García founded the Duo Cristal in 2001, which fused traditional Cuban music with international pop, a band with which he toured throughout the island on several occasions.

The reggaeton singer came to the United States in 2012, shortly after his controversial song “Chupi Chupi” was banned by the authorities of the Cuban regime, who considered it “vulgar.”

García has also made headlines for his statements against the island’s regime. At the beginning of this year described the Cuban ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel as a “murderer”, whom he also blamed for the dozens of kids who remain in prison on the island for demonstrating on July 11, 2021.

The singer commented to CubaNet that the island’s regime was making a direct attack on the lives of its citizens, without complying with the opinions of the international community.

“They care little about the lives of others. They don’t care that Cubans or children have medicines. They don’t care what the world talks about. They are putting the children in prison, ”denounced the reggaeton singer.
