The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) reported that the constant drag of humidity towards the territory and a trough to the northeast of the country will favor so that they continue from early hours of the morning of this last day of the year 2022 cloudy with light rains.
According to the forecast of the Onametthe rains will be moderate locally, but with possible isolated thunderstorms and gusts of wind towards the communities of the north, northeast, southeast (including points of Greater Santo Domingo), the Central Cordillera and the border area.
“These conditions will extend through the course of the afternoon and early evening,” the weather report said.
For tomorrow Sunday, start of the new Year 2023, the trough will be weakening. However, the effects of the trade winds will favor cloudy increases that will cause some occasional rains starting in the morning towards the provinces of the north, northeast, and southeast regions (especially Greater Santo Domingo) and the Central Cordillera, more frequently in hours of afternoon until late at night.
Temperatures will be slightly warm in the day; but at night and early morning, they will become cooler and more pleasant due to the time of year. Expecting a minimum between 6? ° C and 12? ° C in mountain areas such as Constanza, Jarabacoa, Hondo Valle, Polo, among others. And being able to reach 4? ° C and -2? ° C in higher altitude areas, such as Valle Nuevo or Pico Duarte.
On the Atlantic coast, operators of fragile and small boats are recommended to remain in port from Cabo Engaño (La Altagracia) to Punta Gorda (El Seibo) due to abnormal wind and waves, while in other sectors navigate with caution.
For the Caribbean from Cabo Beata (Pedernales) to Paraíso (Barahona), navigate carefully near the coastal perimeter.
