MIAMI, United States. — The Cuban regime called on the people of the Island “to work with passion and with enthusiasm in 2023” during the last Council of Ministers of the year, chaired by the ruler Miguel Diaz-Canel.
Raúl Castro’s successor acknowledged that 2022 has been a very hard year for Cubans, plunged into an unprecedented crisis that has lasted three years, as he himself acknowledged.
“The day-to-day of Cubans in 2022 has been very hard and it is the day-to-day of a third year already, because we are experiencing a complex situation since the second semester of 2019. We have to focus on how we are going to reverse The reality we are experiencing is urgent,” the president stressed.
In statements collected by the official pressDíaz-Canel made it clear that he trusts the “infinite creativity of the people” to move forward next year.
“The challenge is summoning us, the certainty that the creativity of the people is infinite, and that we did not get here by going backwards, we got here by ascending, because having endured all the privations, the tightening of the blockade, the imperialist campaign in these three years, she is a man. We all arrived here, ascending as revolutionaries, defending the Revolution, but we cannot stay there,” he added.
2022 has been a year to be forgotten for Cubans, who have suffered mismanagement by the Castro regime like never before. In this sense, shortages, inflation, fatal accidents, landslides and an unprecedented mass exodus have marked the sign of the last 12 months.
According to the continuation boss, we must “join efforts in the right direction, which is none other than the one that allows us to reverse the difficult economic situation that the country is going through, even in conditions of intensified blockade, and that this helps us to strengthen the certainty around the Revolution, to continue consolidating the idea that the construction of socialism is the only viable alternative for the prosperity and development of our nation”.
