In the third consecutive record of new cases of covid-19 in 24 hours registered this week, Brazil hit this Friday (28) the mark of 25 million people infected since the beginning of the pandemic. From yesterday (27) to today (28), 269,968 new positive diagnoses of the disease were confirmed. With this, the sum of accumulated cases reaches 25,034,806.
The number of cases in follow-up of covid-19 stands at 2,246,008. The term is given to designate cases reported in the last 14 days that were neither discharged nor progressed to death.
The total lives lost to the pandemic reached 625,884. From yesterday to today, health authorities reported 799 deaths from the disease. It was the highest number of new deaths in one day since last September. Yesterday, the information system counted 625,085 deaths caused by covid-19.
There are still 3,133 deaths under investigation, which occur due to the fact that there are cases in which the patient died, but the investigation if the cause was covid-19 still requires further tests and procedures.
To date, 22,162,914 people have recovered from Covid-19. The number corresponds to 88.5% of those infected since the beginning of the pandemic.
The data are in the daily update of the Ministry of Health, released this Friday. It consolidates the information sent by municipal and state health departments on cases and deaths associated with covid-19.
The numbers are generally lower on Sundays, Mondays and the days following holidays due to the reduction of teams to feed the data. On Tuesdays and two days after public holidays, there are usually more daily records due to the accumulation of updated data.
