This Wednesday, Costa Rica detected 6,525 new positives for this disease and this Thursday there were 6,969.
For three weeks, Costa Rica has presented an exponential growth in new positives for this disease, a situation caused by the presence of the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2, considered much more contagious than all the previous ones.
The report, published on the website of that portfolio, states that with the new positives for SARS-CoV-2, which causes this disease, Costa Rica adds 682,480 confirmed cases in almost 23 months of the pandemic.
It specifies that of the total number of new cases on this date, 607 were due to an epidemiological link (cohabiting with a person confirmed by PCR who presents symptoms) and 6,675 by laboratory (PCR test).
It points out that of the total infected since March 2020, between zero and 113 years of age, 344 thousand 551 are women and 337 thousand 929 men; 601 thousand five Costa Ricans and 81 thousand 475 foreigners; 566 thousand 494 adults, 42 thousand 127 older adults, 73 thousand 681 minors and 177 ignored; they account for 573 thousand 10 recovered and 101 thousand 937 assets.
There are 711 hospitalized, of them 123 in intensive care, with between zero and 92 years of age.
The report indicates that this Thursday 12 people died, to accumulate 7,533 deaths since March 2020, of which 2,929 are women and 4,604 men, with an age range of zero to 103 years. By age, three thousand 193 are adults, four thousand 313 older adults, 26 minors, and one among the ignored.
In Costa Rica, they consider ignored “people who do not have the data and it is not found in the Civil Registry. Data may change as a result of the investigation.
