It was also reported that a mechanical workshop was attacked by bullets in the state capital.

In the municipality of Guadalupe on Saturday night, residents reported a shooting. At around 8:00 p.m., elements of the State Civil Protection Coordination (CEPC) went to the Bonito Pueblo neighborhood where they located two burned-out vehicles and percussed cartridges.

By number of intentional homicides, Zacatecas is the tenth most violent entity in the country. Of the 28,469 murders that have occurred in Mexico between January and November of this year, 1,218 (4.2%) of the total have been registered in that state.

Zacatecas opened in 2022 with the discovery of 10 bodies inside a van that was abandoned at the Government Palace.

According to the Secretary of National Defense, Luis Cresencio Sandoval, the geographical location and communication routes have turned the state into a disputed territory for members of organized crime.

“The municipalities (Zacatecas, Fresnillo and Guadalupe) that have the highest number of crimes coincide precisely with the places where the communication nodes are, a conjunction of highways. For criminal organizations it is important to have a presence in these areas to be able to carry out their drug transfer activities in the territory”, he explained on September 9 in the president’s morning conference.

For the holidays, the coordinator of the Morena senators, Ricardo Monreal, is in the state of Zacatecas, which he governed between 1998 and 2004. From his homeland he has published videos to wish Mexicans a Merry Christmas
