On December 23, in his morning conference, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador accused that behind those who accuse the minister of plagiarizing her bachelor’s thesis there are “political purposes.”
The president accused Sheridan and other intellectuals of “dishonesty” and of validating “the looting of the country.” He also supported Minister Esquivel, who came to the Supreme Court proposed by him.
“In this case, I am not completely objective because I consider that any error, anomaly, committed by Minister Yasmín when she was a student, when she presented her degree thesis, is infinitely less than the damage that Krauze and the man who has caused Mexico have caused the complaint, Sheridan, they have done a lot of damage to Mexico,” he said.
The case
Last, Sheridan unveiled on the Latinus portal the alleged plagiarism of the minister’s thesis, with which she graduated in 1987 as a graduate of the Faculty of Higher Studies Aragon (FES) of the UNAM, since it was published a year earlier.
The writer explained that denouncing that case was due to the same call from the Court minister to point out corruption, a request she made in the context of her reasoning about why she seeks to preside over the Supreme Court and participate in the internal election that will be held on next January 2.
“In my capacity as a citizen and complying with the call of the Minister, Lic. Yasmín Esquivel Mossa, I proceed to denounce an act of corruption committed by the intern Yasmín Esquivel Mossa,” the academic published.
On December 23, the UNAM confirmed that the two theses have “a high level of matches” so there is a review in progress.
The day before, the minister denied what Sheridan disclosed and since then she has not made a new statement.
