the government of russia will donate to Cuba 25 thousand tons of wheat, according to official sources.
For this, the Russian authorities allocated some 800 million rubles to the Ministry of Emergencies, which will be used to purchase and transport the cereal to the island, as reported Latin Press (PL).
A Russian government decree specifies that the delivery will be made in the form of humanitarian aid by sea between this year and next, adds the news dispatch.
Moscow will allocate 469 million rubles (about 6.7 million dollars) from the state budget for the purchase of wheat that will be donated to Cuba, while more than 300 million rubles (about 4.3 million dollars) will be allocated for the delivery of cargo by sea.
In accordance with PLthe Russian Executive “instructed the Ministry of Emergencies to procure, transport and deliver humanitarian aid to Cuba, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs must help in operations.”
Cuba and Russia have promoted their bilateral relationship in recent years and both countries have defined their association as “strategic.”
The Cuban president recently visited the Eurasian country as part of an international tour and met in Moscow with his counterpart Vladimir Putin.
After the tour, carried out in the midst of the war in Ukraine, the Cuban government cataloged the visit Russia as “very useful and profitable”, and pointed out that it should contribute in a “significant way” to continue developing cooperation ties with that country.
