Exports from free zones exceed US$7,208 MM

The exports of the regime of free trade zone for the period January-November 2022, amount to 7,208.39 million dollarspresenting an increase of 9.47%, in relation to the same period of the year 2021.

The data contained in the “Revista Comercio” of the General Directorate of Customs (DGA), indicates that 53.57% of exports belong to consumer goods, 32.05% to capital goods, while the remaining 14.38% to raw materials.

In addition, official data shows that 83.09% of exports of free trade zone focuses on 10 tariff chapters:

    Tobacco and manufactured tobacco substitutes (15.90%)
    Machines, electrical appliances (15.08%)
    Fine or cultured pearls, precious stones (9.60%)
    Knitted clothing and clothing accessories (6.91%)
    Pharmaceuticals (5.97%)
    Plastic materials and their manufactures (4.53%)
    Footwear, leggings, booties and similar items (2.71%), among others

Similarly, the DGA reported that 90.40% of exports of free trade zone It is concentrated in 10 destination countries, standing out the United States with a participation of 72.42%, followed by Haiti (5.08%), Puerto Rico (4.66%) and the Netherlands (2.31%).

In addition, Germany (1.28%), China (1.17%), United Arab Emirates (0.97%), Nicaragua (0.92%), Belgium (0.84%) and Canada (0.76%). The rest of the countries represent 9.60%.

Official data indicates that for the period from January to November 2022, 26.19% of exports of free trade zone correspond to taxpayers whose tax domicile is registered in San Cristóbal.

They are followed by the provinces of Santo Domingo and Santiago with a participation of 23.35% and 15.41% respectively. Cumulatively, Customs reports that 80.33% of national imports are concentrated in five provinces, while the rest of the provinces represent 19.67%.

Of the total of these exports71.65% were performed by Seaway23.59% were carried out by air, while the remaining 4.77% by land.

92.70% is concentrated in five administrations: Haina (40.81%), Las Americas International Airport AILA (21.95%), Caucedo (12.07%), Santo Domingo (9.17%), Puerto Plata (8.72%). The rest of the administrations represent 7.30%.
