The implementation process of the new Public Education could undergo important changes. This was declared by the next Minister of Education, Marco Antonio Ávila, who in his first statement regarding his work as Secretary of State, referred to the projection that the government intends on this educational policy.
In a conversation with Biobío, Ávila maintained that the government’s vision “believes in a public education system that is avant-garde, that promotes innovation, networking, with territorial links, where pedagogical experimentation is real work in schools.” .
He also added that “we have not seen that will, at least in this period (government) and we believe that we must strongly reposition ourselves in support of the installation of existing local services and those that are going to come. To guarantee this, we are probably going to have to do many things, including re-examining the conditions in which these local service implementations have been developed. There are several reports where it tells us what we can improve so that the public education department effectively has more tools”.
In practical terms, what should be done in the first instance is “to look at how many additional resources we need so that this public education is properly financed. New resources have to be added and there have to be participation logics, hopefully from the communities so that the installation is adequate. This also has to do with an emphasis on decentralization, on the value of the territorial under the logic of collective intelligence”.
