The superior chamber of the Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judiciary (TEPJF) revoked the agreement of the Political Coordination Board (Jucopo) of the Chamber of Deputies, which issued the call for the election of four directors of the National Electoral Institute ( INE), in order to establish mechanisms that guarantee gender parity in the conformation of the quintets of candidates and in their subsequent designation, as well as to differentiate between the design of the lists of applicants for the General Council and the one that corresponds to his presidency.
In the sentence, approved unanimously, he also ordered that the process be adapted to what is established in the Constitution regarding the obligations of the Technical Committee, in charge of evaluating the profiles of all the candidacies, since in the call it was established that it must present two reports to Jucopo, when the constitutional design states that it should only report on the best profiles.
In an extraordinary session, in which four of the seven magistrates were present, Felipe Fuentes -in charge of the project-, highlighted the importance of the appointments of the electoral advisers -no later than April 28, 2023-, be surrounded by certainty and transparency, since the legitimacy of the electoral body is a fundamental stone for the democratic development of our country and for the existence of free citizen elections

In the discussion on the two appeals to challenge the aforementioned agreement, filed by two women interested in participating in the process, who asked to reserve their names, magistrate Janine Otálora pointed out that in the summons issued on December 13 there is no differentiation between the process of integrating a quintet for the presidency of the General Council and the three quintets for the electoral councils that will remain vacant
