The Commission on Dumping, Subsidies and Elimination of Non-Tariff Trade Barriers (CDB) of the Indecopi initiated an investigation for alleged dumping practices in exports to Peru of 100% polyester plain weave fabrics, originating in China.
Dumping is the commercial practice that consists of selling a product below its normal price or its cost of production, in order to seize the market.
The investigation will verify whether the Chinese fabric enters the country at dumping prices, causing economic damage to the local industry, according to the company Productora Nacional Tecnología Textil SA.
The investigation will cover the period January-December 2021 to determine the existence of dumping, as well as January 2018 and December 2021.
Indecopi indicated that at the end of the investigation it will be necessary to determine if definitive anti-dumping measures are imposed on imports of said product.
Likewise, the CDB stressed that after the fair comparison between the normal value and the export price of this product to our country, between September 2020 and August 2021, reasonable indications were found of the existence of dumping practices in shipments to the Peru.
According to the analysis carried out, according to the provisions of the Antidumping Agreement, the complainant company would have suffered significant damage in the period of analysis, reflected in the negative performance of most of its economic and financial indicators.
