Zackire Phillips pitched seven solid innings where he only allowed one run and was supported by Luis Castillo who homered and drove in three runs as the Atlánticos from Bocas del Toro and Colon obtained their eighth win in a row by beating the Federales 6 runs to 1 from Chiriqui.
The ninth Chiricana could only connect 4 hits in the entire game, contrary to the Atlantics who unleashed an offensive of 13 hits, scoring a run in the first inning, one in the fourth inning, two in the fifth and two more in the sixth. The only run for the Federals was a home run by Jhonny Santos in the fourth inning.
The winning pitcher was Zackire Phillips, who worked 7 innings allowing 4 hits, 1 run that was a home run, fanned to 6 and gave no walks, for the Federales the defeat went to Kenny Hernández who scored 2 runs, hit 6 hits, he struck out 2 and issued 3 walks.
Luis Castillo was the best for the Atlantic, going 2-for-4 with a home run, 3 RBIs and one run scored; Randall Sánchez 4-1 with a double and 1 RBI; Iván González 4-3 and Joshwan Wright 5-2 with 2 runs scored. For the Federales Jhonny Santos 4-1 with a homer with a run scored and a run pushed, while Jhadiel Santamaría 3-1 and Erasmo Caballero 3-1.
With their eighth consecutive victory, the Atlanticos (8-4) are now just one game away from the leadership of the Professional Baseball League of Panama (Probeis) that Los Federales (9-3) have.
The league will take a few days off for the Christmas holidays and will return to action next Monday, December 26 when the Eagles face the Astronauts at two in the afternoon and the Federales against the Atlantic at seven at night in the rod carew stadium
