Fire damage in El Tajín is reversible: INAH

In conjunction with the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), the Secretariat reported that the fire affected the plastic elements that were placed on the structures, as a protection measure against these restoration work.

“Currently, specialists from the archaeological zone and from the INAH National Coordination for the Conservation of Cultural Heritage are assessing the extent of the damage, both to the structures and the mural painting. However, according to the first inspections, it can be pointed out that the effects on Building I are reversible”added the INAH through a statement.

He also pointed out that once the fire became known, he notified the insurer to initiate the claim for the policy that the institute has contracted for the attention of this type of accident.
