The company Mercedes Benz Trucks and Buses announced to the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, an investment of US$20 million in the acquisition of a property in the Buenos Aires district of Zárate, where it will build a new logistics center for auto parts and spare parts.

Within this framework and leading a meeting with representatives of the company belonging to the Daimler Truck AG group, Massa highlighted the “capacity of the automotive sector to transform Argentina into a regional vehicle production hub”.

At the meeting, held at the Palacio de Hacienda, the minister highlighted the “company’s decision to start up a new plant” in Zárate where it will build a new logistics center for auto parts and spare parts.

“You can see the result and impact of the auto parts industry promotion law; in recent days, four companies have made investment announcements,” Massa remarked, accompanied by the Secretary of Industry and Productive Development, José Ignacio De Mendiguren.

For his part, Mendiguren stressed that “it is very important that the automotive industry continue to choose our country to invest and increase its production, efficiently replace imports and generate more Argentine employment that is exported to the region.”

Mercedes-Benz Camiones y Buses announced the decision to acquire a 20-hectare property in Zarate, in the province of Buenos Aires, where it will build a logistics center for auto parts and spare parts.

Once this stage is completed and with the new logistics center already operational, the next step to be implemented in the future will consist of transforming the acquired property into a true industrial center.

In this second stage, Mercedes Benz Camiones y Buses Argentina will install an industrial center with the premise of giving flexibility to the operation to produce different models and incorporate the latest technologies available in production processes.

With a comprehensive vision of the business, the new industrial center will facilitate the conditions for the installation of new local suppliers with the aim of developing an important parts location plan.

The Union of Mechanics and Allied Automotive Transport (Smata) represented the General Secretary, Ricardo Pignanelli; the Undersecretary of the Union, Adrián Valle; the Undersecretary for Labor Agreements and Laws, Pablo Pages, and the Assistant Secretary General, Mario Manrique.
