The entity ratified its commitment to accompany the lady, although she has decided to abandon the case, highlighting in this new scenario that “the case will not fall”.
“The Ministry will be present at the hearing where coercive measures against Alexis Villalona together with the Baní prosecutor, Ángel Darío Tejada, who stated that he will not stop the case, because “this type of case” does not only affect one person, this time Santa Ariasbut to the whole society and we will be representing it”, he stated in a press release.
The institution explained that it has not been dispossessed of the case of Santa Arias and that it will continue to make known the coercive measure, as it is a public order crime, and that it will demand, together with the Public Ministry, to continue with the legal action so that the accused responds in court.
The organization affirmed that it is obliged to provide support to the victims who often suffer pressure that prevents them from being in a position to hear the judicial process.

This Thursday, on the eve of the coercive measure hearing against Alexis Villalonahis lawyer informed Diario Libre that Santa Arias dropped the complaint filed against his defendant. The hearing will take place in the Permanent Attention Court of Baní, Peravia province, where the incident occurred.
The lawyer Jorge de los Santos said that Arias signed this Wednesday an act of withdrawal of the complaint, instrumented by a notary public.

The typification of the crimes committed by the accused includes articles 309 and 309-1 of the Dominican Penal Code, highlighted the head prosecutor of Peravia, Ángel Darío Tejada Fabal.
