Three deaths and at least eight people injured left in the Portuguesa state the crash of a bus that covered the Caracas-Mérida route with around 50 passengers on board.
The collision occurred at dawn on Thursday, December 22, on the José Antonio Páez highway, at the height of the Ospino municipality, when the unit of the Táchira Mérida Transport line collided against the Guache River bridge.
Since the moment of the accident, the regional authorities have been working on the recovery of the bodies, one of them still trapped in the iron mess that the bus was turned into. The driver and a passenger were the other two fatalities.
The police and rescue forces are working to identify the deceased and injured, as well as the causes of the accident.
The injured were admitted to the Guanare hospital
According to Efraín Petaquero, director of the Portuguesa Fire Department, the eight injured were transferred to Guanare, some 40 kilometers from the scene of the event, and admitted to the Miguel Oráa hospital emergency room, several of them in a delicate state of health. with trauma.
Of the rest of the passengers, he reported that many suffered minor injuries and were even able to board another unit that was passing through, to continue the journey to their destination.
Three more injured in Portuguesa in another road accident
On the night of this Wednesday, the 21st, another accident was recorded in Portuguesa in which three people were injured and were admitted to the Miguel Oráa hospital, all diagnosed with generalized trauma.
The incident occurred in Guanare, the state capital, when a flatbed truck hit a fixed object on Juan Fernández de León avenue.
The injured, treated and transferred to the hospital by Civil Protection and Disaster Administration personnel, were identified as Elvis José Pérez Graterol, 21-year-old driver of the vehicle; Yeferson Goyo, 18 years old, and Cristian Jesús Linares Rodríguez, also 18 years old.
