After several questions about the release of Andrea Forfori, the departmental prosecutor Róger Mariaca explained this Wednesday that she was not apprehended before (when she appeared spontaneously at the Prosecutor’s Office) due to “lack of evidence” against her, but he indicated that he will be charged with the two former municipal officials apprehended this Wednesday for the alleged irregular charges in the Botanical Garden through QR.
“Why wasn’t Forfori apprehended? Because when she came to testify (on December 9) the investigations were beginning and there were not enough indications against him, which became known after his statement and that they carried out different raids and statements were taken from the other two involved,” Mariaca explained.
These statements by the prosecutor come after the councilor of the Autonomous Community (CA), Juan Carlos Medrano, questioned the work of the prosecutors commission investigating this casefor not apprehending Forfori and for ordering the arrest of Enrique Mariaca, former director of Human Resources at the Botanical Garden, and Rocío Zurita, a former employee.
“Today Mr. Mariaca and Mrs. Zurita refrained from testifying and shed tears, because they wondered why they were detained and the same thing did not happen with Mrs. (Andrea) Forfori. It is low-ranking officials who are in custody and the heads are freeMedrano said.
In addition, the spokesman for the municipality’s General Directorate of Legal Affairs, Bernardo Montenegro, blamed the commission of prosecutors for the release of Forfori on December 9, when she voluntarily appeared to testify.
“The Public Ministry is the one that must respond, because the Public Ministry released Forfori and now it is being heard that she could have an arrest warrant (…) She and the other defendants must answer to justice and we hope that this process will be carried out with transparency and speed,” Montenegro indicated.
Prosecutor Róger Mariaca said that the investigative process progressed and for this reason the former director will be charged of the Botanical Garden as well as Enrique Mariaca and Rocío Zurita, the latter two are already apprehended pending their hearing on precautionary measures.
“The complainant was made aware that, at the time, the commission of prosecutors is going to issue the formal imputation resolution against Mrs. Andrea Forfori, it’s not me saying it, the commission of prosecutors says it under the independence they have in this investigation,” the prosecutor explained.
In this way, Enrique Mariaca has been indicted for the alleged crimes of embezzlement of funds and extortion, while Rocío Zurita was accused of illicit enrichment and extortion.
According to the first investigations, the former director of Human Resources of the Botanical Garden was the one who made payments to municipal officials and Zurita He was in charge of sending different QR codes to make irregular charges.
