Ombudsman exposes to the IOM the existing challenges regarding Migrations

A conservatory on migratory trends in Panama and the world, as well as the progress that the country has had, was carried out by the International Organization for Migration (IOM), together with government authorities and the Ombudsman’s Office.

The objective of this conversation was to reinforce the strategic alliance with national and international communicators and also spoke about the challenges that Panama has faced and the opportunities to continue strengthening the governance of safe, orderly and dignified migration in the future.

In the conversation, the Ombudsman’s Office was represented by the Director of International Relations Jonathan Santana, who from his experience in the immigration issue explained the importance of recognizing the Human Rights of this group in a situation of vulnerability in the face of the current situation that is lives on the American continent with human mobility from south to north.

Santana was accompanied by Gerardo Carballo, Project Assistant Specialist in Information Management of OIM in Panama, an interactive conservatory was developed with Giuseppe Loprete, Head of the Global Administrative Center and of the OIM Mission in Panama; María Isabel Saravia, Deputy Director General of the National Migration Service; Dayra Campos, Secretary General of the National Commission against Trafficking in Persons.
