Mevir participants in Puntas de Valdez signed the deed to their homes

In the Maragata town of Punta de Valdez, 60 families obtained ownership of their houses, after having complied with the rights and obligations inherent to the participants of the Mevir programs. The Minister of Housing and Territorial Planning, Irene Moreira, stressed the importance of obtaining the legal certainty of the title, just as it was, 25 years ago, receiving the key to one’s own home.

The collective deed in Mevir II, carried out this Tuesday the 20th, in the town of Puntas de Valdez, was witnessed by the Undersecretary of Housing, Tabaré Hackenbruch; the president of Mevir, Juan Pablo Delgado, and residents of the town.

On the occasion, Moreira recalled the inauguration, days ago, in the Maragato department, of housing for passives. And he announced, for next week, the signing of an agreement for those affected by the floods. In this sense, rehousing, purchase of used homes and delivery of baskets will be carried out through the National Housing Directorate.

He also argued that 25 years ago the beneficiaries received the key to their house, and that this day is a “special moment”, because it is the day they obtain the title to their house. “This deed gives legal certainty and allows you to leave an inheritance to those who follow you,” he said.

In addition, he informed that the law of urgent consideration enables to expand the framework of work. Initially, it was possible to act in areas of up to 5,000 inhabitants, and now areas of up to 15,000 inhabitants are enabled. This change led to the presentation of projects in the towns of Chuy, Castillos and Bella Unión, he explained.

In another order, he declared that the second annual draw for cooperatives will be held on December 23.

For his part, Delgado declared that, for the first time in Mevir, a deed plan was carried out, so that an economic patrimony of the families is achieved, which means more freedom and autonomy for the beneficiaries. With these from San José, 500 deeds were reached throughout the country.
