The national coordinator of Tupac Amaru, Alejandro “Coco” Garfagnini, affirmed that “we will always continue fighting for the freedom of Milagro Sala, we will not loosen up”, during the act that started the camp in Plaza de Mayo requesting a pardon presidential election in favor of the social leader from Jujuy.

Several legislators, political, social and union leaders accompanied the Tupac Amaru militants in the central act that began the camp that will continue until Friday.

Former minister Elizabeth Gómez Alcorta considered during the act “as Cristina said, they want her and Milagro Sala dead or imprisoned and we know that they want Milagro above all dead.”

For her part, the vice president of the APDH, María Elena Naddeo, expressed her opinion regarding the request of the Governor of Jujuy, Gerardo Morales, for the Jujuy leader to return to the prison of that province: “Morales as soon as he finds out about the court ruling requests common jail For Milagro, that shows a deep cruelty and the cruelty of the powerful classes against those who fight “.

And he considered that regarding the request for presidential pardon “there may be legal contradictions, but it is more unconstitutional to have someone imprisoned for 7 years than to confront this Supreme Court that does not represent us.”

In turn, the national deputy and union leader Hugo Yasky recalled that “the person responsible” for the murders on ‘the night of the blackout’ and owner of the Ledesma mill, Carlos Pedro Blaquier, “is the son of the Jujuy oligarchy that hates a miracle because it is Indian and woman”, and added that “Blaquier enjoys the impunity that the Supreme Court of Justice and the judges of his province give him, all part of the powerful mafia that Milagro faced”.

“We must demand that the government sign the pardon and force the members of the Supreme Court of (in)justice to resign and democratize the judicial system,” said the general secretary of the Autonomous CTA, Hugo “Cachorro” Godoy at the act.

For her part, the national deputy of the Frente de Todos Paula Penacca indicated: “From this place of representation we say that the Court that sentenced Milagro has no value for us. We will continue to raise our voices so that no political prisoner remains ” .

The column marched from 4:30 p.m. from the intersection of Avenidas de Mayo and 9 de Julio to Plaza de Mayo, where they will remain encamped until Friday to demand the pardon of Milagro Sala after the Supreme Court of Justice upheld the conviction of 13 years in prison for the social leader in a case for “illicit association” and “defrauding the State”.

The Tupac Amaru militants were accompanied by national deputies Mara Brawer, Eduardo Valdes and Paula Penacca, former minister Elizabeth Gómez Alcorta; union leaders Daniel Catalano, Hugo Godoy and Hugo Yasky (also a deputy) and leaders of Option Cures for the Poor. Militants from the CTA Autónoma, Popular Left Sovereignty, Espacio Puebla, La Dignidad Popular Movement, Anival Veron Current, Popular Liberation Movement among others will also participate in the camp.

While waiting for the arrival of the main column, they began to install some gazebos in the Plaza de Mayo. After the main act, the camp began where the organizations began to settle to spend the first night.

According to information from the organization, this Thursday morning there will be an open radio and in the afternoon the militants will accompany the characteristic round of Thursdays carried out by the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo.

On Friday, according to reports, they have scheduled a press conference.

The decision to camp in Plaza de Mayo had been announced last Friday at a press conference at the group’s headquarters in Buenos Aires, where various political and trade union leaders demanded that Sala be granted a pardon by the president before the end of the year. Alberto Fernandez.

The request for a presidential pardon comes after the Supreme Court of Justice issued a 13-year sentence against Sala for “illicit association” and “defrauding the State”, in the case called “Pibes Villeros”.

The defense of the Túpac Amaru leader denounced that the highest court, in its resolution, did not address the irregularities that were evidenced in the judicial process.

“We mobilized together with Tupac Amaru at the beginning of the camp in Plaza de Mayo for the release of Milagro Sala. Enough of persecuting social fighters,” the Autonomous CTA posted on its Twitter account with photos of the mobilization.
