Opposition legislators criticize union leaders for perpetuating their positions and living at the expense of the State after being declared commissioned in their state employment sources.
The deputy of the Citizen Community (CC) Miguel Roca pointed out that several of these COB representatives are from YPFB, Comibol and other state companies, and have been leaders for 15 years and earn money for being declared in commission. They are also subordinate to the government party,” he said.
He explained that among salaried workers almost half are in the public sector and do not represent all workers.
“The COB only represents a minority of salaried workers, since in Bolivia there are 8.5 million Bolivians of working age and less than a million are salaried,” he said.
The deputy of Cree Erwin Bazán maintained that these people used the MAS to live off the State. “Rolando Borda, from the Central Obrera Departamental, has spent 20 years as a leader with a salary of 30,000 bolivianos without giving anything in return for the workers. But there are other 140 leaders who have been declared in commission, it’s not just him,” he said. He recalled that the Ministry of Hydrocarbons was sent a request for a written report to respond to various irregularities “For example, the leader Rolando Pacheco is a substitute councilor for the MAS, receives a salary from YPFB, resigned from the Municipal Council, but never left to receive salary when he was a candidate. There are other cases of leaders with a declaration in commission at YPFB Logistica and who are related to the MAS. Councilman José Quiroz of MAS benefits from YPFB using his wife, who has several personnel and hydrocarbon transportation contracts,” Bazán specified.
