About twenty people injured in a traffic accident in Matanzas

A car accident A mass attack reported this Monday from a town in the north of the western province of Matanzas has left 16 injured so far, the island’s official media reported today.

It happened around 6:40 pm on Monday when a bus transporting workers from the Centeo Oil Drilling and Extraction Company (EPEP) overturned.

The incident occurred in the town of Ategorrieta, in the Martí municipality, and was caused by damage to the rear tires of the transport, according to journalist Alexei McIntosh León, whose data They were reported through the official media CubaDebate.

The 16 injured people received care at the Martí municipality polyclinic. 12 of them were later referred to the Julio Aristegui Villamil Teaching General Hospital in Cárdenas, and four to the Faustino Pérez Provincial Hospital in Matanzas.

The authorities of the province indicated that they kept close watch on the injured and that medical work was intense to preserve their health.

Cuba registers increase in traffic accidents

This massive event occurred on the same day in which it was revealed that accidents and their mortality rate on the Island had experienced an increase, according to records documented up to October.

During this period, 8,187 accidents were registered, with a balance of 566 deaths and 6,175 injuries, which translates into the death of at least one person for every two of these events.
