The free telephone line 148 that contains and accompanies situations of violence in Neuquén attended more than 17,000 cases in 6 years, of which 72.8% correspond to women, reported the provincial government.
“There are 2,190 days, 52,560 hours of uninterrupted work focused on listening, accompanying, assisting, informing, guiding and containing,” said the provincial director of the Provincial Program for Containment and Accompaniment in Violence Line 148, under the Ministry of Women and Diversity, Soledad Crespín, according to a statement from the provincial government.
Likewise, Crespín stated that “from the beginning we set out to be a channel for active listening that empowers, because when a person who is in a situation of violence is contained and accompanied, they begin to distort the oppression to which they are subjected.”
“Putting our task into numbers is to add a tool in the invitation to co-build and improve the system of protection of people of which we are part,” said the provincial official.
In the report, carried out within the framework of the sixth anniversary of the operation of the Line, it is highlighted that 17,147 new situations were attended, where 72.8% correspond to women, and a pre-eminence of the admission of situations related to family violence is visualizedas indicated by the provincial body in a statement.
In addition, the document indicated that during the period between December 1, 2021 and November 30, 2022, 3,583 new situations entered, of which 70.2% correspond to women and 21.4% are related situations. to children and adolescents. Meanwhile, 3.3% of the total corresponds to situations of older adults and 0.78% to people with disabilities.
The main reason for the situations received is family violence (57% of the total), followed by violation of the rights of children and adolescents (19.03% of the total); and of the total number of situations entered, 94.28% correspond to Judicial District I, which includes the cities and towns that concentrate the bulk of the population of the province.
It should be noted that the report clarified that reference is made to situations and not to calls, because each situation involves more than one communication.
The document also stated that Line 148 works in coordination with various provincial and municipal institutionswith the aim of guaranteeing comprehensive care, with the criteria of simultaneity in order to avoid multiple intervention and re-victimization of vulnerable populations.
It was also stated that of the total referrals it was observed that the largest number of calls are made to agencies of the Judiciaryhim, and in that framework the Office of Violence is the main body with which Line 148 articulated in the indicated periodconcentrating 62.8% of the total referrals made to said Power.
Finally, it was indicated that throughout this year the Line 148 team worked actively in the inter-institutional networks of 12 localities: Villa Pehuenia-Moquehue, Caviahue, Loncopué, Las Coloradas, Junín de los Andes, Villa La Angostura, San Martín de los Andes, Centenario, Senillosa, Villa El Chocón, Neuquén (west zone) and Zapala.
