The Cibaeñas Eagles issued a statement with the intention of clarifying recent events that have “convulsed baseball fans and public opinion in general.”
This, referring to the two games that the LIDOM has confiscated the yellow team this season.
“We have a well-earned respectability in the sports community as a country brand,” the statement indicates, which also highlights that Las Águilas Cibaeñas has never incurred in malicious actions or actions contrary to the regulations of the Dominican baseball tournament.
Although, the team recognized that a human error could have been made due to an inadequate internal interpretation and that it will never agree with actions that threaten stability that could lead to precedents that violate and jeopardize the credibility of baseball.
The team also reaffirmed its commitment to LIDOM and the fans, while ensuring that from now on it turns the page to focus on the initial goal, which is to achieve the 23rd crown.
About confiscated games
Lidom confiscated two games from the yellow team, the first was fought on November 6 against the Lidcey Tigers team and was confiscated due to irregular use of the roster change by the affected team.
In a Lidom resolution dated December 8, it states that the Eagles committed a violation of league rules.
Mainly by declaring that the American pitcher Geoff Hartlieb was absent on paternity leave without being true. He being replaced on the roster by Roenis Elías, who pitched in the November 6 game that the Águilas won 6-5 at the Cibao Stadium.
The second forfeited game was in favor of the Eastern Bulls.
According to the governing body, Roenis Elias illegally replaced Geoff Hartlie on the roster of the
Cibaeñas Eagles.
The LIDOM regulations indicate that when a pitcher is substituted by simple decision of the team, he cannot pitch for a period of 15 days. Hartlie pitched against the Bulls on November 11. This, only 5 days after leaving the roster under a false argument.
