Onemi reports that there are five red alerts in the country due to forest fires: most are concentrated in the Valparaíso Region

The National Emergency Office of the Ministry of the Interior (Onemi) reported this Saturday afternoon that there are five red alerts in the country due to forest fires. Four are in force in the Valparaíso Region.

The national director(s) of Onemi, Mauricio Tapiaindicated that “at the moment, five red alerts are reported for the communes of Quilpué, Catemu, Villa Alemana and Santo Domingo, in the Valparaíso Region, and Curacaví and Lampa in the Metropolitan Region.”

“In the Valparaíso Region, the fires with the greatest impact correspond to the sectors of Cerro Viejo, Los Colihues, Quebrada Escobar, Panguirosa and Molino, while in the Metropolitan Region the Fundo Carén incident remains active,” he added.

In turn, Tapia recalled that the RM Health Seremi decided to cancel the health risk alert due to smoke from forest fires, “when verifying good air quality in the network of monitoring stations of the Ministry of the Environment.”

“We call on citizens to have preventive behavior and act responsibly, not lighting bonfires or manipulating heat sources in areas close to vegetation,” concluded the national director (s) of Onemi.
