The presidents of Iveco in Latin America, Márcio Querichelli, and Iveco Group in Argentina, Santos Doncel Jones, presented to the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa, their investment plan for the production of compressed natural gas (CNG) heavy trucks and buses in the country, with the aim of exporting them in the region, reported today the Palace of Finance.

During the meeting, the authorities of the automotive firm announced that they decided to invest in Argentina promoting sustainability by reducing the emission of gases, particulate matter and noise.

Likewise, they assured that in the country there are conditions to promote the exports of these vehicles and increase the national component in their production.

“This announcement is another example of the confidence in the country’s development on the part of top international companies such as Iveco, and confirms the opportunities we have to accompany investments with cutting-edge technologies that promote the transition towards more efficient and friendly energy sources. with the environment,” said Massa in this regard.

For his part, the Secretary of Industry and Productive Development, José Ignacio de Mendiguren, who accompanied the minister at the meeting, highlighted the support provided by the State to these investments.

“We have been meeting the objectives that we set ourselves to sustain the level of activity while promoting the structural change of the productive matrix to make the leap to definitive development, generate more exports and put an end to the frequent crises that affect Argentina,” said De Mendiguren. .

Similarly, the official highlighted that the use of installed capacity in the automotive sector grew 11.5% this year.

Iveco recently announced its new investment plan of US$ 200 million to boost the growth of the company in Latin America, from which it will develop new products, such as the EURO VI line for the entire region, and the renewal of the CNG Tector in the country, to continue increasing the supply of products in the field of alternative fuels.

With 28 factories in the world, the Iveco Group has been based in Argentina for more than 50 years; In Córdoba, the firm has the only heavy truck factory in the country.

Last year, Iveco reached 12 consecutive years as leader in the country in the segment of trucks over 16 tons, with a 38.6% market share.
