Brazilian writer Nélida Piñon dies

The Brazilian writer and journalist Nélida Piñón, winner of the Prince of Asturias in 2005, died this Saturday in Lisbon at the age of 85, according to the Brazilian Academy of Letters.

The author of 25 books, including novels, short stories, essays and memoirs, was the first Brazilian to receive the main prizes for Ibero-American literature, such as the Juan Rulfo or the Menéndez Pelayo, highlights a cable from efe.

She was also the first woman to preside over the Brazilian Academy of Letters (ABL).

He recently received Spanish nationality due to the Galician origin of his family.
