The Government confirmed this week that a year-end bonus of $24,000 will be paid to dependent workers who earn up to $185,000, a decision that was questioned by the ACC (Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services).
Through a press release, the entity expressed its “deep concern” about the government’s measure and, although the ACC He assures that he shares the interest that there is in recovering the purchasing power of the workers, he maintained that this should be done through joint negotiations.
“The Entity understands the motivations for such a decision and shares the interest in rebuilding the purchasing power of employees. However, is convinced that the scope for determining adjustments in private sector remuneration should be joint negotiations”, indicated the ACC.
This, given that this space is “where the representatives of the companies and workers of the various branches of economic activity can agree on salary changes consistent with the situation and perspectives of each one of them.”
The organization also highlights that the fact that the bonus must be paid in December represents “a difficulty” for companies, given that two weeks of the month have already elapsed and, in addition, the bonus must be paid in the same period, which is paid apart from the bonus.
In that framework, the camera considers that the Government’s decision “disturbs the necessary business planning and that, by applying the same increase to sectors that register clearly heterogeneous realities, it causes multiple distortions.”
And he adds: “he advocates that the increases in remuneration be agreed upon in joint sectoral negotiations, in the conviction that the consensus reached there -and in the possible reopenings or revisions agreed between the parties- are the best tool to reconcile the legitimate workers’ claims with the payment possibilities of the companies of each activity”.
How the bonus will be paid
As announced by the Government, the $24,000 bonus will be aimed at workers in a dependency relationship who earn up to three minimum wages. The extra will be paid only once during this month.
In this sense, monotributistas and workers in the informal economy are not included in the Government’s measurewho also offered a bonus of $13,500 for the beneficiaries of Potenciar Trabajo.
